Open and Close Tray. It had been awhile since we have had one of those. I put a necklace in each one. Wheels calls them beads and he likes to wear them. I have noticed that when he puts them away, he makes sure that there is one necklace in each one. Prior to this, he really didn't care if they were all in the same container.
What are these jars called with the clasps like this? Wheels can open it, but he is still working on latching it.
Treasure chest with a simple latch. There was also a zipper pouch (which he can now do), and a simple jewelry box that just opens.
Clothespins on a tin can
He also liked putting them in the can and shaking them. It made a really fun (and loud) sound.
Melissa and Doug cutting food. He was a big fan of this, but I thought the knife should be thinner. It doesn't fit very well between the pieces. I actually ended up letting him use a butter knife.
Hammering. He prefers to use a real hammer rather than the wooden mallet.
Pouring salt: he did well pouring from the little pitchers through the funnel .
Not necessarily as well pouring from the big container to the smaller ones. He had fun though.
And helped sweep the floor. (His sweeping skills need some work.)
He also liked to pour into the cups and say, "one for Mommy, one for Wheels" and then pretend to drink out of it (and wait for me to say thank you and tell him it's yummy.)

I love your post! He is such a busy and learning little guy - he reminds me of my own son at that age :)
ReplyDeleteYou'd mentioned about the knobbed cylinders - I personally suggest presenting the 3rd when interest has waned a bit with just using two. Prior to doing three at once, you could show the third one by itself; then tell him he can do it with one he's already done -- he will likely naturally take all three out at some point.
That way it's not "new-new-new" all the time, but he finds himself in the seeking mode when this new discovery is presented :)
Thanks for the advice about the cylinders!
